Overview
The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) was established by the United Nations in 2005 as a forum for multi-stakeholder dialogue concerning public policy issues relating to the internet, involving such stakeholders as governments, the private sector, the technical and academic communities, and members of civil society. Its annual meeting brings together stakeholders from across the globe for about a week each year. The first day is devoted to a high-level meeting between ministerial representatives from various countries and the leaders of global companies. The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2023 is the 18th annual meeting of this body and marks the first time it has been hosted by Japan.
